GB7DG 2m and 70cm Operational Glasgow area..... - 14/02/2008

Hello Folks,

I would just like to say that GB7DG 2m and GB7DG 70cm Dstar repeaters
are now operational in the Glasgow area.

We will be carrying out coverage checks etc over the next few weeks.
The first contact made on 2m was between GM0OPS and MM1BJT and the
first 70cm contact was between GM0OPS and 2M0XXP.

This is a first for GM and also I believe the first 2m Dstar repeater
to be active with a few more following in GM and G this week.

It is hoped to have GB7DE 2m port up and running within the next 10
days as near enough all components for the system are in the UK
(awaiting cavity filters to clear customs).

This has certainly been a very high learning curve and its just the
start of things.

I would like to thank Icom (Don and John) and the RSGB, in particular
Iain G0RDI.

We still have a long way to go but we have started and users are on
GB7DG just now trying to figure out how everything works.

Thanks once again

regards
John GM0OPS
