1st UK Dstar meeting 1st March ...Venue Information - 20/02/2008

Hi Folks,

First of all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO thread drift. Keep it about the
venue etc. Nothing else thanks in advance..... ;-)

Date: Saturday 1st March 2008

How to get there:

The site has all the maps etc that you will need.

Tea/Coffee/Food: Yes I know its something that everyone would like but
its at a cost. The cost for unlimited tea/coffee/biscuits plus some
sandwiches at lunchtime is £10 per head. Any other donations would be
appreciated unless some nice company wants to sponsor the event.

Start time: 9.30am for 10.00am start. The meeting room is booked for a
full day.

Facilities at the hotel:

# Complimentary stationery kit
# Television and video recorder
# Overhead projector
# Screen and remote control
# Flipcharts

So this is all included in the cost of the day.

The total amount of folks attending at this time is 15. If your name
is not down on the list then please let me know asap.

The agenda as it stands today is:

RSGB regarding D-Star operation in the UK.
Current D-Star repeater keepers and their systems (please come prepared).
Icom UK.
Gateway access
Access granted on `good faith' or confirmation of license.
Grant access on request (even if the user has no D-Star radio).
Do we add all prefix combinations for a given call (G, GW, GI etc) - a point Alan 2M0XXP raised.
Appointment of UK recognised `technical, licensing, support, international liaison positions/people to ask question to.
Creation of the following:
Procedural documents,
Technical documents,
Best practice documents for new and existing installs.
National D-Star resource webpage (sub page of
What do we want the D-Star UK network to look like? Cellular or ad-
hoc? Create a method statement?
Agreed calling frequencies.
GPS datum, OSGB or WGB-84.
Enhancements to the network, D-PRS gating to APRS, HMEARD lists,
Discussion on the need for the implement a UK devolved trust
Who should run this server? How can this server help with performance and resilience (caching
techniques etc).
